SAHIWAL: The Sahiwal Arts Council (SAC), in collaboration with Sandal Natak, Faisalabad, organised a theatre festival at Jinnah Hall in connection with the golden jubilee of the renaming of Sahiwal.

The city was earlier called Montgomery, named after British Lieutenant Governor Sir Robert Montgomery.

Two plays, Man Diyaan Man Wich and Aitraf, were performed in the festival and both of them were done by students of educational institutions of Faisalabad city.

Man Diyaan Man Wich was adaptation of a short story by Indian writer Harcharan Singh. It was directed and written by Asif Hoat. The play was a story of a woman whose husband was lost for 12 years and she contracted marriage with another man. Her first husband returns after the marriage, creating emotional, psychological and social problems for her.

Aitraf was written by Afifa Sheikh who was also the co-director along Hasan Raza. This play showed how guilt of a woman affected her whole life and made her make a positive contribution to society.
