‘IDEAS’ in Gwadar

Published November 25, 2016

THE China Pakistan Economic Corridor and the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar are two innovative initiatives which promise Pakistan a bright future.

Every time the Ideas exhibition is held — this is the ninth one — it brings many countries and people closer to Pakistan in cordial and business relationships. The current Ideas has 34 countries and 400 plus exhibitors participating in the event.

Earlier this month, Gwadar port officially opened while the CPEC became operational when the first Chinese convoy with 60 containers arrived at Gwadar port for trans shipment.

I propose that the next Ideas be held in Gwadar City. This would go a long way in introducing this port to the world. The city is also fast gaining the capability to host such prestigious international events.

The holding of Ideas there would not only give knowledge about Gwadar City and its port to the world; it will give first-hand information about the CPEC to the participants.

Hosting international events will not only boost Gwadar’s economy but also contribute significantly to Balochistan’s development. The infrastructure and many allied industries in the province will be strengthened.

The authorities should give serious thought to the issue.
