LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of traffic jams and the poor traffic system in the provincial metropolis and other major towns.

Chairing a meeting on traffic system here on Friday, he reprimanded the authorities concerned over their failure to manage the traffic system. He said traffic jams and waste of time of people on roads would not be tolerated as the institutions concerned had been provided with resources to deal with the issue.

Shahbaz was flabbergasted to see that despite development of infrastructure, widening of roads and construction of flyovers and underpasses, the people were still facing traffic problems. He said the situation would have been different had the departments concerned done proper planning and used modern technology.

Expressing his displeasure, the CM said the Lahore Parking Company did not bring rotary parking machines despite the passage of several months as the machines would have helped in resolving the parking issue. He said he would personally head the steering committee set up for improving the traffic system and would review the system on a regular basis.
