DADU: A second fire within five days hit senior PPP leader and former minister for education Pir Mazharul Haq in Mazdoorabad Mohalla of Dadu town on Friday destroying furniture and other household articles worth millions of rupees. Pir Mazhar and his son, MPA Pir Mujeebul Haq, were not present in the house when the incident took place.

Five days back, a fire had broken out in the house of another PPP MPA from Johi, Syed Ghulam Shah Jilani, within the same neighbourhood. Mr Jilani holds the office of the special assistant to the chief minister on auqaf.

Both the incidents have been attributed to electrical short circuit. City DSP Rasool Bukhsh Siyal, however, said that an investigation into the Pir House fire was under way.Pir Mujeeb was quoted as telling police that he received the information about the fire at his house from his domestic servants. He costly furniture and all household articles present in the affected portion of the house were reduced to ashes.
