SAHIWAL: The Solid Waste Management Company (SWMC) will be formed in the city during the current year for quick disposal and recycling of the solid waste.

The Tehsil Municipal Administration will reportedly purchase land for disposing of the solid waste on Bunga Hayat Road near village 89/9-L.

Officials of the urban unit, Lahore, visited Sahiwal and held a meeting with TMA officials in this regard.

TMA ADC/Administrator Rizwan Nazir said the company employees would collect garbage while a modern plant would be installed at the site of solid waste disposal to recycle it.

He admitted that the Tehsil Municipal Administration did not have the strength and resources to collect garbage from the entire city area.

He hoped the formation of SWMC would effectively allow the TMA to make the city clean by disposing of all solid waste.
