LAHORE: Commissioner Abdullah Sumbal says the first phase of the Safe City Project in Lahore will be completed by the end of October.

He told a meeting on Friday CCTV cameras would be installed at 462 points under the phase-1 of the project in the area of Civil Lines division. The firms awarded project’s component of laying optical fiber through digging work would be responsible for repair and maintenance as well.

He said the divisional administration would try to get the project completed on time. He asked the contractors and departments to inform him immediately in case of any delay in the project.

He told the departments to appoint focal people to deal with the matters related to the construction of optical fiber’s ducts.

PFA: Punjab Food Authority (teams) sealed on Friday Abid Chicken Sale Centre in Township and seized 512 kg of unhygienic meat for flouting hygiene standards and rules and regulations. The teams also sealed Al-Janat Sweets, Asghar Murraba Farosh, Bemisal Dahi Bhallay and Saleem Foods in Bhogiwal, Iqbal Town and Chungi Amarsadhu. Fine was also imposed on Fazal Milk Shop and Chaska Hotel.

Price control magistrates on Friday got 106 shopkeepers arrested and imposed a Rs32,000 fine on others for overcharging, hoarding and selling substandard commodities.

WCLA: For the conservation and rehabilitation of the Lahore Fort, a PC-I of Rs812.065 million has been prepared and forwarded to the Planning & Development Department for approval. According to a spokesperson, the places which were never conserved earlier had been taken into notice. At present, upgrade of the ticket house, rehabilitation of the royal kitchen, conservation of British era bridge, conservation of Sah Dari in Jahangiri Ahata, and maintenance of lawns and horticulture are the ongoing projects and expected to be completed soon.

WASTE: A Turkish firm (Albayrak Waste Management Company) arranged a health and safety training workshop on Friday for its sanitary workers and drivers at its workshop located near Saggian Bridge.

According to a spokesperson, sanitary workers, drivers and helpers were informed about risk on job and safety measures against those risks.
