SIALKOT: The district on Wednesday was hit by worst power outages and fluctuations, causing a great deal of inconvenience to people especially those who were observing fast.

People in Sialkot, native town of Federal Power Minister Khwaja Asif, also face gas loadshedding.

Power fluctuation damaged electrical appliances like water motors, TV sets, ACs, UPSs in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur cities and even in rural areas.

There was shortage of water in houses, mosques and water filtration plants drew a rush of people.

When contacted, a Gujranwala Electric Power Company official said there were some technical faults in electrical system due to which people had to face outages and fluctuations.

In Sialkot, a large number of women along with their children staged a demonstration in front of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited offices on Wednesday.

The women carrying kitchen items in their hands staged a sit-in and chanted slogans against SNGPL.

They said Pakka Garha, Kotli Behram, Model Town, Gohadpur, Muslim Town, Kashmir Road, Pakpura, Premnagar, Nishat Park, Pooranagar, Water Works, Green Wood Street, Nehal Chand Street, Dara Aaraaiyaan, Tajpura, Hajipura, Rangpura, Hajipura Ban, Naikapura, Mubarakpura, Muhammadpura, Kashmiri Muhallah, Hamza Ghaus, Shafi Da Bhatta, Imam Sahib, Fatehgarh and Muhallah Bijli Ghar were badly hit by gas shortage.

An SNGPL official said they negotiated with the protesters and assured them of early solution to their problems.
