RAWALPINDI: For not taking proper security measures in Ramazan sasta bazaars and keeping the police station dirty, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Mohammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja on Tuesday demoted a sub-inspector and an assistant sub-inspector and forfeited the salary of the station house officer (SHO) of Mandra.

The RPO had made a surprise visit to the Ramazan bazaar in Gujar Khan and had found the security arrangements to be unsatisfactory. Assistant Sub-Inspector Wajid Ali was demoted to head constable for not putting in place proper security measures in the bazaar.

Later, the RPO visited the Mandra police station and expressed displeasure over the cleanliness and dereliction of duty by the station house officer and Sub-Inspector Abdul Majeed.

The RPO asked SHO Ishtiaq Masood Cheema about the cleanliness of the station and when he did not receive a satisfactory reply, he forfeited the SHO’s salary for two months. The sub-inspector, who was also the duty officer on Tuesday, was in plain clothes which annoyed the RPO and he was demoted to the rank of assistant sub-inspector.

Following the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister, the RPO and city police officer Rawalpindi have been paying frequent surprise visits to Ramazan bazaars and sending in their reports of the visits.
