Hackers claiming to be from Pakistan defaced websites of seven Indian embassies, high commissions, and consulates in various countries with pro-Pakistan Army slogans on Wednesday.
In an email sent to journalists, the hackers claimed to target Indian missions in Ankara, Athens, and Mexico City.
Missions in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Bucharest, Romania as well as Dushanbe, Tajikistan and South Africa's Pretoria were also defaced by the hackers referring to themselves as "Romantic" and "Intruder".
The text defacing the sites of Dushanbe, Ankara and Athens read brief, jarring phrases such as "Don't Be Panic", "We Rock and U Shock", "Pakistan Zindabad", and "Feel the Power of Pakistan".
When Dawn.com attempted to access the seven sites, only Athens, Dushanbe, and Ankara seemed to be defaced, while the others appeared to be restored.
A representative from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad declined to comment on the issue.
Cross-border hacking attacks have been sporadic yet common since at least 1998. The Lahore High Court's website has been hacked twice by Indian hackers recently, while Pakistani hackers have attacked National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur's website.

why do not these guys think of excellent idea and use these skills in startups. We have so many problems in Pakistan, just go out observe and use these skills in positive ways in changing society. That would be real power of Pakistan.
This act is an embarrassment for Pakistan in international community. we need to focus on progress.

Why would Pakistan army hack GOI websites and proudly proclaim that they are from Pakistan army. Doesn't make sense. Someone who is NOT from Pakistan army BUT want to put the blame on Pakistan army will do this.
I have my serious doubts about the source of these attacks. An investigation of source IP address and following the trail will reveal who is actually behind the attack. It's not difficult.

An Israeli disguised as an Indian. That is the key here. In the cyber world you can hide yourself behind many fake identities. Only way to track it to your computer is with a bit of investigation. All computers leave a digital footprint across the internet. Investigators simple have to pick up those footprints and trace them back to one computer.

First of All Indian Goverment should check the credibilty of the company which has created these websites.Because nic is giving tenders to small companies if the portals are just static and Informative.
Indian govt. should take this seriously and order security audit of all govt. websites.
It a matter of shame for us if we are not able to stop these cyber attacks being the top software country of the world.

Totally stupid action which achieves nothing except negative publicity for Pakistan.
If the culprits can be traced to Pakistan they should be put on trial. This sort of behaviour is unacceptable in this day and age when we should be building bridges with our neighbours.

I am glad to see Pakistani people condemning these acts. I am feeling so greatful about this, that i want to thank you all for condemning this illegal act. They must have thought that they would become heroes of Pakistan by doing so. But they were quiet wrong. I hope they see your comments and feel the shame they have brought upon their country.
