LAHORE: The Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has formed 17 committees to better organise the June 17 sit-in it is going to hold on The Mall to commemorate the PAT workers’ killings in a police raid two years ago.

PAT chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri is returning home to lead the sit-in which would continue for at least 24 hours despite Ramazan and the committees have been asked to make proper arrangements for Sehr and Iftar of the participants.

District and zonal leaders of both PAT and Minhajul Quran have been tasked with mass-contact and workers’ motivation drives.

Dr Qadri once again chided the government for delaying the ToR issue. He said the country needed surgery and a major operation for economic turnaround and “fictitious” figures of budget could not improve the economy.

He was reported as talking to the PAT consultation council here on Sunday. The council reviewed preparations for the June 17 sit-in and Dr Qadri directed the district leaders to ensure maximum participation of workers in the protest.
