MULTAN: Seraiki activists observed a black day here on Thursday to protest against the fall of Multan on June 2, 1818, as the Sikhs under Ranjeet Singh held their sway.

A number of Seraiki activists gathered at Qila Kunha Qasim and went to the grave of Nawab Muzaffar Khan to pay homage to him.

Former Multan governor Nawab Muzaffar Khan Sadozai along his sons and a daughter were killed in the battle while defending the city on June 2, 1818.

The protesters said 200 years after the fall of Multan resources of the ‘wasaib’ were still being looted ruthlessly.

They said the people of Seraiki ‘wasaib’ would continue their struggle for the creation of Seraiki province.

One of the protesters said: “It is unfortunate that death anniversary of Ranjeet is being observed at government level while no attention is being given to the hero of Seraiki wasaib Nawab Muzaffar Khan.”
