LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's open-heart surgery has been performed successfully in London, and he has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), confirmed the premier's daughter on Tuesday.

Maryam had added after the surgery concluded that the prime minister will be shifted to the ICU with in the next hour. In a separate tweet she also thanked the people for their prayers and well wishes.

The surgery was started earlier in the day at 8am UK time and lasted more then four hours.

"PM's surgery started at 8am UK time. Spoke to him earlier, he was in high spirits," Maryam tweeted earlier.

"All arteries successfully grafted," Maryam said, adding that surgery may take another 60 to 90 minutes to conclude.

Earlier, Maryam had said the surgery was progressing fine.

Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed said prayers across the world were held for the premier's well being and health.

"Everyone has prayed for him, Muslims prayed in mosques, Hindus in temples and Christians in churches."

Zubair Gul, president of PML-N's United Kingdom chapter had said the surgery, which began at 12pm Pakistan time, is expected to last anywhere from six to eight hours.

However, there is a great deal of secrecy surrounding the PM's surgery and it is not known which hospital he has been admitted to. The premier could not be found at the Royal Brompton Hospital in Chelsea where he previously received treatment, and is presumed to have left his home without detection.

Members of the premier's security detail have allegedly been posted at various hospitals to throw reporters off the trail.

The prime minister is expected to be in the hospital for a week following his surgery. During his stay at the hospital, the premier will be overseeing the affairs of his government from London, the media wing of PM House said earlier.

On Monday, the PM addressed an economic meeting and signing off on budget proposals for the upcoming fiscal year.

Prayers and goat sacrifices ahead of PM's surgery

PML-N supporters have offered prayers and sacrificed animals ahead of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's surgery.

The party's social media pages are filled with well wishes from people across the globe, and picture of supporters indulging in goat sacrifices.

PML-N's official pages also had supporters sending their best wishes for the PM.

The premier also thanked the nation for their prayers a day before his surgery was scheduled.

The need for the surgery arose after the premier went through a cardiac procedure called Atrial Fibrillation Ablation in 2011, "during which certain complications occurred resulting in perforation of heart", Maryam Nawaz earlier told the media.

"After some recent symptoms, a team of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons carried out some scans and tests, following which they decided to go for an open-heart surgery," she said.

World leaders, also conveyed their wishes for the PM's quick recovery in days leading up to his surgery.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephoned his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Monday to express his gratitude for the good wishes for his recovery before being wheeled in for his heart surgery, Radio Pakistan reported.

I am so stressed , keeping my fingers crossed, with a prayer in my lips. Hope Dawn will update us as soon as surgery is successful.

Saira May 31, 2016 02:40pm

Wishing him a speedy recovery. Amen

indian May 31, 2016 02:40pm

PM Modi may pay Nawaz a surprise visit and wish him speedy recovery.

Sheena, Bangalore May 31, 2016 02:41pm

Get well soon Mr. PM!!

Aamir May 31, 2016 02:42pm

This is such a joke. I am not accusing PM of faking surgery but had it happened anywhere else in the world a complete medical board would have officially given minutest details of illness and treatment. Why such secrecy, what are they actually trying to hide?

Ismail May 31, 2016 02:45pm

I am not a doctor but blockade of one artery does not require open heart surgery!

Any heart surgeon could comment please.

Asif Jamil May 31, 2016 02:49pm

I am not a fan of Nawaz Sharif but at this time all the comments about Panama Leaks and other attacks against him should stop till he has fully recovered and is back at work.

In the meantime, we wish him a speedy and full recovery.

apache indian May 31, 2016 02:56pm

Entire India is praying for succesful surgery and good health of Nawaz Sharief.

kashmiri May 31, 2016 02:58pm

Prayers for PM & his family members

Battleaxe May 31, 2016 02:59pm

Open heart must finish under 4 hours otherwise physiological complications start after this time period as chest remains open and blood is on bypass circuit , this is technical fact of bypass for it to be sucessful or beyond 4 hours risk increases exponentialy after each hour beyound this period . It takes two days to extubation post surgery and 4 days to remove chest drains and total 2 months to get over pain of sternum being opened as it will be wired back on closure and 6 months physiotherapy to get into normal physical condition . This looks like LAD block otherwise Stents via percutaneous way would do the job electively or they have failed ,so now a bypass. It's a safe procedure and very effective in long term . When time comes for rebypass after 14 years ask me whats the only precaution that needs to be taken during procedure as then one single problem needs to be solved before re bypass is done and this problem starts after this first bypass .best of luck.

waqas May 31, 2016 03:04pm

Get Well Soon -Our Supreme Leader, All nation is stand with you!

miristan May 31, 2016 03:06pm

Wish a speedy recovery of Nawaz Sharif, hope this is not a drama to get sympathy and delay action of Panama leak where his family is main target. Why such a secrecy no Pakistani wants to kill him. they are praying for his long life. This may be simple angiography not a open heart surgery . Truth will come out, Pray for nawaz to live 100 years and he will be happy man when he clears his and his family name from alleged corruption and money laundering allegations.

Harmony-1© May 31, 2016 03:07pm

There is no "secrecy surrounding the PM's surgery"about which hospital any more. The news channels are showing the hospital near Harley Street.

Rohit Singh May 31, 2016 03:07pm

Get well soon Mr Sharif.

Freeadssite.com.pk May 31, 2016 03:08pm

Hope all goes well, he gets better soon, amin

timetostopthis May 31, 2016 03:09pm

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

SHAHZ May 31, 2016 03:10pm

Maybe Harefield hospital best in town for heart grafting

Umer May 31, 2016 03:12pm

I suspect there is no actual surgery and all this is to diver attention from panama issue or perhaps it is a possible excuse for the PM to step down and bring a new PM and not make it look like he has to resign due to panama issue.

AIZ May 31, 2016 03:22pm

Get Well soon sir.....

sheryaar May 31, 2016 03:26pm

is there really a surgery going on? thats the question?

TRUTH May 31, 2016 03:28pm

Best wishes for our PM, get well soon!

It would have been good if our PM has given preference to local hospitals, we have here world best facilities and JCI accredited Hospital in southern part who treats patients from Western countries too.

Ghuncha Gul Khan May 31, 2016 03:29pm

There is something fishy surrounding this entire episode of 'much ado about nothing'.

iffi May 31, 2016 03:33pm

Wish PM a quick recovery .... I hope & pray that the PM & his team works for the betterment of poor's of this nation for once, after successful operation ... ameen

Zak May 31, 2016 03:34pm

So what, many undergo this surgery on daily basis.I just care about poor people rich have all the facilities for treatment.

sbk May 31, 2016 03:37pm

@sheryaar , There is a limit to be sarcasm; Be polite while writing about the Prime minister.

Abrar May 31, 2016 03:43pm

With perforation of heart, the man does not survive.

Abdulla Hussain May 31, 2016 03:43pm

May he get well, resign as PM & take a long private vacation. No need to worry, he has more than enough wealth to last several generations ahead. He should retire from politics.

Adnan Anwar May 31, 2016 03:45pm

Lack of transparency makes me completely believe, this surgery is all drama. He would have gotten more sympathy if he had been more open about his surgery than hiding all the details. The fact everything is being kept secret raises more question about whether it is really a diversionary tactic from Panama leaks or really an issue of blocked arteries in reality.

50 Shades of Khaki May 31, 2016 03:49pm

@sheryaar They should broadcast it live to satisfy sick minds - right?

vimla May 31, 2016 03:51pm

@sheryaar Why suspicion?

The Observer May 31, 2016 03:52pm

"Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephoned his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Monday to express his gratitude for the good wishes for his recovery"

Really? PM called Modi to get good wishes....

Tariq Rashid May 31, 2016 03:53pm

Wish him successful surgery and speedy recovery - ameen.

Sudhakar USA May 31, 2016 03:54pm

Amazing to see this level of coverage. Surely sitting leaders of other nations have gone through similar procedures before without so much media coverage?

Apache May 31, 2016 03:57pm

@sheryaar God knows

Concerned Pakistani May 31, 2016 03:57pm

Get well soon Mr Prime Minister!

TRUTH May 31, 2016 03:58pm

All our best wishes to our PM, Get Well Soon! However it would have been good if PM has preferred Hospital in Pakistan for his treatment. We have world best facilities available locally especially in southern part of country has JCI accredited hospital who gives best treatment n care and patients from West preferred coming here.

lafanga May 31, 2016 03:58pm

The main question media MUST ask is, why so secret? Are they afraid someone will find out what is going on? Is Mariam Nawaz now a doctor to provide all the updates via tweets? I am speechless.

Honestly these inept and corrupt people have completely ruined whatever is left of Pakistan.

lafanga May 31, 2016 04:01pm

Why so secret? I heard on few channels in Pakistan that according to doctors the procedure is outpatient for 1 hour followed by rest for one day. Is PM really having an "open heart" surgery as the PMLN inner circle and family keep saying or is the reality something else?

I guess keeping the whole thing secret is one way of keeping it from public view.

Masood Hussain May 31, 2016 04:02pm

Is he sick???????

SAT GOEL May 31, 2016 04:07pm

Praying for your recovery and speedy return to your work in Islamabad. God be with you.

MSShaikh May 31, 2016 04:07pm

May he have full recovery, Aameen. Why can't we know which hospital he's being operated in? He is the leader of our country. I think we are entitled to that. Also, great to know that the NHS opens its theatres at 8 am for VIPs!!

Aamer May 31, 2016 04:06pm

Our prayers for the PM.

Adi May 31, 2016 04:11pm

Never heard minute by minute detail of any surgery. Usually doctors talk to the patient family after the surgery is completely done.

M. Asghar May 31, 2016 04:11pm

This type of by-pass heart surgery is a normal practice these days and their nothing to worry about.

Rashid Sultan May 31, 2016 04:14pm

Good to hear that the procedure was successful. Long and happy life to PM NS. And good cheer to Maryam and the boys in London. It doesn't matter which hospital as long as he is cared for by competent medical staff.

moeazze May 31, 2016 04:17pm

Overseeing the affairs of government from London? For how long ? Take a break Mr. PM and do not consider Pakistan solely dependent on personal life matters

M. Siddique May 31, 2016 04:23pm

Why the secrecy? Even the president of the US, who is humanly most protected person, has his hospitals known his people. Pakistani leaders are far from learning the basics of democracy.

M. Siddique May 31, 2016 04:25pm

@indian, Well the location is secret please tell PM Modi, do not try to find Nawaz Sharif.

A Pious Person May 31, 2016 04:37pm

Wake up and smell the Anesthesia! There is no surgery taking place! Let's see if he loses significant weight after his "open heart surgery"!

Zubaida khan May 31, 2016 04:37pm

Dear people,

For those trying to be doctors please stop. This is not about blockade of one artery or 6. A few years ago there were complications from another surgery which this is trying to fix.

It is a very serious situation. Not a normal planned surgical procedure. So please put your medical knowledge aside and just pray for his recovery. For a day be a countryman, be a muslim, be human, have compassion.

Saeed May 31, 2016 04:38pm

I feel that such a secrecy about the hospital and other medical details should have been made public. He is the prime minister of Pakistan and people want to know these details. This is a common practice in free and democratic countries of the world. Only dictators and despots follow secrecy.

Zubaida khan May 31, 2016 04:40pm

@Aamir it's personal, and you do not need to know. That was the family decision.

Ronald Reagan was so sick that he did not even remember what room of the white house he was in. And people did not find out that he had alzhiemers until a couple if years after he left the presidency.

Roussou May 31, 2016 04:40pm

@sheryaar shame on you for starting a conspiracy theory. A man is ill and you think he's playing it up.

Ali May 31, 2016 04:39pm

@Aamir In developed countries, the patient medical illness and history is confidential as per ethical and medical standards and regulations

Ali Kassim May 31, 2016 04:39pm

He could be at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge?

Mahmood May 31, 2016 04:46pm

I guess we'll not know where to send the flowers!

Mahmood May 31, 2016 04:51pm

@Harmony-1© Harley Street is famous for its specialists doctors and private clinics. To the best of my knowledge this street has no hospital which performs such surgeries on the spot.

News channels always resort to landmarks which has even anything remotely to do with the subject at hand. I recall a PTV coverage of future plans for PIA (ah yes, those were the day) and they displayed artist's rendition of a Concorde, with PIA logo emblazoned on it!

Zak May 31, 2016 04:53pm

Politics aside, Ahlamdullilah. Speedy recovery.

Saeed May 31, 2016 04:54pm

What worry me is that public, military and state servants may not be cooperating in this topi drama, if that is what it is. This is a practice of despots and dictators and not of democratically elected peoples representatives.

Jibboo May 31, 2016 04:54pm

Wish him speedy recovery and good health. However, there are very skilled surgeons in Pakistan who could have done the operation here itself! Is there no trust in the local practice of medicine and surgery?

timetostopthis May 31, 2016 04:56pm

Sami Ullah Swati May 31, 2016 05:31pm

Wish Paksitanis of all colors have access to 10% of health service that the PM have. He has been in power for decades and thus a wish for 10% health cover access is not realistic. If his surgery is a big breaking news, then this statement is worth publishing Dawn as well!!!!

Harmony-1© May 31, 2016 05:32pm

@Mahmood - Other than clinics at Harley Street, there are some private hospitals too such as The Harley Street Clinic (a private hospital), The Princess Grace Hospital, Weymouth Street Hospital (at the corner of Harley Street).

Salim May 31, 2016 05:50pm

Where is the trust in God and prayers when he is scared to even get the operation done in the country of which he is the PM .... Hypocrisy all the way from the Sharif clan

shakil May 31, 2016 05:53pm

A 3rd world prime minister undergoing such a critical treatment, a politically-charged process in any case, in a strategically important western country, and coming out of it successfully is no less than a miracle. History is teeming with examples of cases where ailing high profile world statesmen never came back healthy from such countries. Algerian President Boumédiène in 1978 in Moscow, King Hussein of Jordan in 1999 in US, Palestine Chairman Yasser Arafat in 2004 in Paris, et al., are just a few examples. All these controversial leaders did not make it back to their countries under happy circumstances, and conspiracy theorists had field day with them. The nation must thank God for successful recovery of our prime minister.

Najaf May 31, 2016 05:55pm

@Yasser Nailed it!

Nazir May 31, 2016 06:02pm

Alhamdulilah. Prayers for his speedy recovery. Can we please have a proper medical update, preferably a health bulletin issued by the hospital spokesperson. Why this great secrecy?

IS IT SO SIMPLE May 31, 2016 06:01pm

My prayers and good wishes for his speedy recovery.

Yousuf May 31, 2016 06:08pm

Virtual Reality Open Heart Surgery is what the PM went through. Leaves no scars, requires no rehab, ...

JOSH May 31, 2016 06:11pm

@shakil He could have received this treatment in Lahore. There was never any need to go to London in the first place. So quit exaggerating, dude!

Hasan May 31, 2016 06:12pm

Everything seems fake to me.why the secrecy about the hospital and the doctor who is performing the surgery. If the PM was so sick why was he doing the Jalsas, when he came back from London.

Desi Dimag May 31, 2016 06:13pm

Get well soon sir, Pakistan in ICU too.

M.Malik May 31, 2016 06:19pm

@A Pious Person Wicked! He could also be getting hair grafting done at the same time. Notice more thicker hair on the PM's head in a few days or a week.

Nida May 31, 2016 06:21pm

He had no open heart surgery. He had atrial fibrillation for which he underwent ablation percutaneously

Nida May 31, 2016 06:22pm

@Ismail Left stem main disease does require single vessel bypass or even those that are single vessels not able to to undergo angiplasty. I know as I am a Dow medical graduate whose done her internship from Shifa. My husband is a cardiologist, whose an AKU grad so I can ask him further.

Doc PhD USANo May 31, 2016 06:29pm

Pakistani PM always travels to London for medical treatment. This shows that he does NOT have confidence in Pakistani Doctors. Despite of this, they always elect him the PM. In other words, all Pakistani medical Colleges and Hospitals must be closed as the PMs of this country has the least confidence in their people.

AV Houston May 31, 2016 06:29pm

I am kund of surprised he does not trust cardiologist in Pakistan. We have some of the best cardiologist in the world.

Sarah May 31, 2016 06:30pm

Its a world record to do open heart surgery in record time.

Iqbal May 31, 2016 06:31pm

Hopefully this time around you may wanna go easy on your lavish life style, kick backs etc. perhaps it's dawned on you that it's a short life and about time we did something for the ordinary folks who slog day in and out for one square meal.

Lakhkar Khan May 31, 2016 06:35pm

God speed, Mr. Prime Minister. I am not one of your supporters but he is the top man of our country.

Malik May 31, 2016 06:38pm

It looks real surgery.

Ali May 31, 2016 06:43pm

We pray for PM Nawaz Sharif's successful surgery and speedy recovery, though it could have easily been done in Islamabad, saving huge hospital bills which would have to be paid in foreign exchange? Add the expense of flying there? Our leaders should be role models. They must have faith in our country and institutions.

PM's picture in a London hospital seems bogus? There hospitals provide gowns for patients, especially for someone getting ready for surgery. Patients are not allowed to wear outside clothes which may be contaminated with germs? Sorry PM sahib, your PR department has goofed up? No offence intended.

Roussou May 31, 2016 06:46pm

First pictures of NS after surgery in ICU circulated in social media. May he recover soon, ameen. This should put the conspiracy theory at rest.

Salman May 31, 2016 06:56pm

Dear Prime Minister,

We all know how much you love PAYA, Nihari and all high cholesterol food but please we are a people of poor nation and can not afford your foreign medical treatment, so please eat more veg and fruits.

Thank you

Skeptic May 31, 2016 06:56pm

This whole episode of open heart surgery, secrecy surrounding it, and appeals for public prayers is all designed to fool the people.

If it is anything but a ruse, than you must also believe in NS earning $2billion in just a year from his steel foundries to that multiplied his wealth, to buy flats in London, soon after he came to power the second time.

I don't believe fairy tales!

Harmony-1© May 31, 2016 06:56pm

Rou May 31, 2016 07:01pm

@SKG Then he will have to share his 10%.

It is sad that these corrupt retards, go to their masters…..Not able to trust the healthcare system?…..We have great Pakistani physicians in all the major specialities, serving the needy inside and outside the country. We see a trend in similar folks in power in different countries, talking big about themselves but when they need healthcare resolution they all run to similar places….Using this as smoke screen, escape justice in this world…...

Why is it that no soul in UK has so far talked to the media about what exactly ails NS, and all the information that is fed to the country is coming from the PM house which itself is getting its information via a satellite (or cable) link.

ebotXXX May 31, 2016 07:52pm

I rather not go to movies today and watch this page. It is good fun.

M. Malik May 31, 2016 07:54pm

Wonderful!

Now get ready for news about NS's recuperation post-surgery. I'm thinking his physician will recommend he spend couple of weeks in a nice, warm and sunny place with blue ocean view!?

No, not Karachi. But California, Monte Carlo, or Hawaii!!?

Oh well, another $5 -10 million to be blown away!!

mahboob May 31, 2016 07:55pm

@Aamir It is mainly due to security

me May 31, 2016 07:54pm

This is all drama to suppress Panama leak issues. Just trying to take nation sympathies so that they can hold on to their billions.

Dr.Sadaf May 31, 2016 07:59pm

@Aamir , many things.

Dr.Sadaf May 31, 2016 07:58pm

So what next now?

mahboob May 31, 2016 08:00pm

@Umer, would you like to wish such a drama for yourself?

me May 31, 2016 08:00pm

I will not believe that he underwent surgery until I see his surgery scar on chest

mahboob May 31, 2016 08:00pm

@Adnan Anwar we wish you also face such a drama in your life. we need to pray during this time.

Dr.Sadaf May 31, 2016 08:00pm

@apache indian , really you have so much time, it is amazing.

tarik May 31, 2016 08:01pm

Oh that is too good.

Dr.Sadaf May 31, 2016 08:02pm

@Asif Jamil , what a coincidence that Panama leaks and the surgery timing is the same.

mahboob May 31, 2016 08:02pm

@Adi you guys use of hearing minutes to minutes about dharna. how can you think something else

Dr.Sadaf May 31, 2016 08:04pm

This drama should end now, enough sympathy votes have been gained and the leaks are not going to vaporize in thin air.

Mahmood May 31, 2016 08:05pm

@M. Malik I'm thinking, Hawaii or California. So he can make a refueling stop in Panama on they way over.

Saeed May 31, 2016 08:07pm

@Dr.Sadaf Doctor sahib what is your prognoses?

Muhammad Saleemullah May 31, 2016 08:13pm

O' Lord of the worlds! Bless the premier with quick recovery.

Ghuncha Gul Khan May 31, 2016 08:17pm

This heart treatment should be rude awakening for N.S. and I hope against hope that Mr. Sharif, after undergoing critical surgery, has now realized to build state of the art hospitals in Pakistan instead of more motorways and more mansions.

Waqas May 31, 2016 08:16pm

@Harmony-1© the news channels r showing Po pictures but why is the official government information minister not updating the nation..

Lahori Kid May 31, 2016 08:22pm

I had a blocked artery too, I received a stent, was back at work on the 3rd day working 16 hour days.

SABER May 31, 2016 08:24pm

Pakistan need PM and Foreign minister......

Talha May 31, 2016 08:24pm

Nawaz Sharif hasn't even worked for the people of his own consitutency, what makes people across the world pray for his recovery. He is no Mother Teresa or Nelson Mandela. However, I hope he recovers just I would've hoped for any person who is ill. PMLN also needs to stop milking political mileage from this personal matter. Long live Pakistan!!

sidney May 31, 2016 08:32pm

This is great news. Sharif is important for Pakistan and for peace. We all wish him speedy recovery

Asher Khan May 31, 2016 08:32pm

I guess he gets more time to seek forgiveness just like all of us.

Al May 31, 2016 08:33pm

Not sure if he really had open heart surgery. I have my doubts

JO10 May 31, 2016 08:35pm

Really want to make Duaah for him but I see how his pain compare to the pain of common people of Pakistan. While he get the best treatment in UK we in Pakistan can not even get treated clean water. What a shame these leaders we trust and when in power the abuse their power for personal gains. How much wealth he will take with him or any of us nothing but deeds will matter I hope after he recover he comes clean and give back all what has been take from the country and help rebuild Pakistan.

Saeed May 31, 2016 08:35pm

@Talha . Long live PAKISTAN. Down with the usurpers.

JO10 May 31, 2016 08:38pm

@sana Do you know finger crossed is a Christian term and it means "CROSS".

Sunny May 31, 2016 08:38pm

Why in London? Cardiac surgeons are not available in Pakistan?

hasan May 31, 2016 08:40pm

@sheryaar , hahaha, seriously!

aamir ayub May 31, 2016 08:42pm

Am assured had the PM decided to get his heart operated from hospital, the same electronic and print media will have been highlighted the stories relating to the trouble faced by the other patients and their relatives in that hospital due to security and other measurement taken by the responsible

Tanvir May 31, 2016 08:41pm

Please let a doctor report from the real hospital where the PM is going through surgery. Also why is the PM more important than the millions of poor Pakistanis suffering with lack of quality health services in Pakistan. Besides, they have no money for basic health care.

nwa May 31, 2016 08:43pm

The King is well !!!!

Saeed May 31, 2016 08:49pm

@nwa . When was he not well?

Harmony-1© May 31, 2016 08:50pm

@Waqas - That guy is just good for propaganda, as you know.

Faith May 31, 2016 08:49pm

Why they have to post all the pictures ?

Desi Bhai May 31, 2016 08:52pm

was it really necessary to show the actual goat sacrifice?

not again May 31, 2016 08:55pm

These people really brought the entire population of Pakistan to humiliation. For treatment they don't trust that country, for money they trust Pakistan.

AuK May 31, 2016 08:56pm

@mahboob Whose security. What about country's National Security which has been compromised by a PM whose disease no one knows about and who has been rendered incapable because of it! And no one knows who is running the show from the PM house!

not again May 31, 2016 08:58pm

@apache indian Please take him to India, he came to Pakistan only in 1947 anyway. He will be a great addition to BJP brightness.

M. Johri May 31, 2016 09:07pm

@tariq And also bring back to Pakistan all that stolen money you have invested in banks and properties.

Battleaxe May 31, 2016 09:10pm

@nwa and the show goes on, don't lose your head when the deal goes down .that's the motto my friend

Salman May 31, 2016 09:13pm

Will all the people praying for PM's health now also pray for the countries health? Please?

Saeed May 31, 2016 09:13pm

In a poor nation where more than 50% of the population is living below poverty line , the chief representatives whole family has gone to London for bemar pursee. The cost of one persons return ticket is Rs. 250000.00. It is like going to Chichawatni from Lahore.

Sarah May 31, 2016 09:14pm

@Sarah without opening the heart :)

M. Johri May 31, 2016 09:15pm

@indian For that matter , in fact he should have gone to India for heart operation and then should have stayed there. India is a good country for investment and business.

Aftab May 31, 2016 09:23pm

I wish speedy recovery to the PM. I am indeed disappointed by the comments posted by some friends. I am a doctor and the ailment and treatment of a patient is confidential. It is entirely up to the patient how much details he wants to divulge. We should respect his privacy. NS may not be perfect but he is the best option that Pakistan has among the present lot.

Riazullah Baig May 31, 2016 09:23pm

instead of building orange and red lines he should have constructed some good hospitals and medical universities. But I fear they don't like such spoiling ideas.

Red Dawn May 31, 2016 09:27pm

Thank God. Get well soon PM. We need you.

Arshad Patel May 31, 2016 09:35pm

As world dwellers, we all share a common bond: HUMANITY. Good Luck Nawaz Sharif!

kk May 31, 2016 09:37pm

Open heart is common surgery now and even Tier 2 City in India it's being performed successfully. How ever wish NS speady recovery

k k tiwari May 31, 2016 09:44pm

Wish him an early recovery . Long live Mia Nawaz

excalibur May 31, 2016 09:47pm

Nauseating drama shrouded in secrecy ,is the disease something to be ashamed of A ploy to sit out the Panama scandal cannot be ruled out

Open heart surgery is never so casual

Tooba Khan May 31, 2016 09:48pm

Why surgery in London. Is Pakistan not good enough? When Pakistan is the biggest supplier of doctors in UK, USA and middle east then why Pakistan is not good enough for PM to have surgery in his own country. I think this should make all of us and Pakistani official think about the state of health care in the country.

AuK May 31, 2016 09:54pm

@kk It is common in Pakistan too. Thousands of people getting operated on a routine basis. It is only the political leadership which prefers to live and die in London!

tariq May 31, 2016 09:58pm

It proved Steroid on watch from poor people money may result in clot in arteries. Move from Panama to Heart leak

Lahori Kid May 31, 2016 10:01pm

@p. vaidyanathan, You are welcome to have him

Zubaida khan May 31, 2016 10:02pm

@Nida how about LVBB with atrial valve complications?

Lahori Kid May 31, 2016 10:02pm

@JO10, Its still a prayer

canada calling May 31, 2016 10:09pm

may you meet your maker at an earliest.

canada calling May 31, 2016 10:21pm

@A Pious Person . All those goats that were sacrificed he will be eating for long time. There is no fear of PM losing any weight.

canada calling May 31, 2016 10:26pm

My dear Indian friends, Since you are so concerned about Nawaz Sharif. I have a proposition to make we will gladly trade Nawaz for Modiji.

Ali F. May 31, 2016 10:29pm

Best of health Mr. PM. May this operation recover all your heart Illnesses.

Saeed May 31, 2016 10:32pm

@canada calling . I think we should leave Indian leaders out of it. It is only polite and decent. Their remarks are not as you have taken them.

OZ May 31, 2016 10:37pm

@indian Please Modi, don't just pay him a visit. Take him to India for ever.

Global peace May 31, 2016 10:37pm

When Manmohan Singh was PM of India he had heart surgery in India. Pakistani PM has to go to London. This sums up the development of Pakistan.

Atti Shukla May 31, 2016 10:42pm

Sir lots of live from India.

Sab Se Pehle Pakistan May 31, 2016 10:41pm

The surgery started and ended within 15 minutes which is a record time in "open heart surgeries". Get well soon and please do visit Pakistan after complete rehabilitation.

Atti Shukla May 31, 2016 10:43pm

@k k tiwari i wish him too from India.

patriot May 31, 2016 10:48pm

PM should now resign and enjoy life while others sort the country out

Atti Pandey May 31, 2016 10:47pm

Good wishes for you Sir,may you remain healthy for rest of your life.

Saeed May 31, 2016 10:50pm

@Atti Shukla Thank you very much.

Hopeful May 31, 2016 10:55pm

shoukat sheikh May 31, 2016 10:56pm

Wish him health, Hoping After this incident must have received some hidayat. that he is the leader of country and everyone in this country deserves to have treatment like princess grace hospital.kindly provide them and prove to be a leader.

bbe May 31, 2016 11:05pm

I wonder beside his few slaves in the media cell, how many pakistanies prayed for his well being, i certanly didn't.

Z May 31, 2016 11:10pm

@Ismail if you have left main disease you need it

Gerry D'Cunha May 31, 2016 11:38pm

@AV Houston He does not even trust investing his money in Pakistan leave about trusting doctors in Pakistan. He is only interested in ruling the poor people of Pakistan and getting VIP protocols, now all set for 2018 election with his new heart surgery PM for the 4th time.

Ali May 31, 2016 11:40pm

@Global peace Pakistani hospitals has every facility. The problem is that our PM's treatment, assets, kids, business, shopping and interests all lies abroad.

Saeed May 31, 2016 11:56pm

Has any one noticed that the picture family has put up of a person lying in the ICU has thick black hair and face is not clear. NS has thin light colour hair. It is confusing picture.

Lahori Kid Jun 01, 2016 12:02am

Although I have no respect for NS but I would never wish harm on anyone including him, I pray for his health and recovery,Ameen.

imran Jun 01, 2016 12:05am

Good. Now lets start praying for the health of Pakistan.

Saeed Jun 01, 2016 12:06am

Hospital still remains unnamed. Why??

Azhar88 Jun 01, 2016 12:20am

And why did he need to have this surgery done in the UK? Couldnt it be done in Pakistan ?

Exlim Jun 01, 2016 12:47am

Hope the PM gets well soon.

It would be really nice if there is a renewal of heart in real terms and he becomes more compassionate and in tune with the real needs and problems facing the poor and 75 percent of this population.

Faiza Salman Jun 01, 2016 01:43am

Not a single hospital in Pakistan to take care of him. At least we should have one hospital in Raiwand atleast where he can be take care of. People ask me why you leader dont trust your own medical institutions while even in government.

Kyoorius Jun 01, 2016 01:55am

Mr Sharif is the PM of Pakistan. Deserves respect. Moreover sarcasm has no place when a person is recovering. Panama can be dealt with later when he has fully recovered.

Bahadur Jun 01, 2016 01:58am

I wish PM well. I also pray that may Pakistan have good medical institutions and trained doctors so in future PM, other politicians and rich folks would not have to travel abroad to get heart or other surgeries, aameen.

Ajaya Dutt Jun 01, 2016 02:16am

Our good wishes are with you.

I also wish Pakistan will develop open heart surgery facility in Pakistan, so that those who cannot travel to UK or USA for this can get it.

Of course India is always open with a welcome for any Pakistani needing medical care.

Iqbal Khan Jun 01, 2016 02:18am

Heart is clean now , new commitments and ventures are possible now .

Ravian Jun 01, 2016 02:35am

Harley street clinic according to bbc.

Kash Jun 01, 2016 03:13am

Though I'm not his huge fan but I still wish him a speedy recovery. As human beings we should all be compassionate about other human beings

Razi Jun 01, 2016 04:29am

May be now he will think about making a good hospital in Pakistan as well?

Dervaish Khan Jun 01, 2016 05:00am

A few days back he was able to address multiple times to very big crowds and now he has undergone pre-planed cardiac surgery. He had no signs of heart disease. Patients having three vessels disease cannot be so energetic despite optimum medications. Taking into account that he underwent ablation therapy for lone atrial fibrillation in 2011, one can understand that he had normal coronary arteries four years back as coronary angiography must have been done en rout at that time as per age requirement while multiple catheters were there inside his heart. He is not a smoker and also as we know, he is very fond of mangoes; one can assume that he is not diabetic. So how come he contracted ischemic heart disease of that severity that he needed to get grafted multiple vessels. Of course there is something fishy going on.

Kashmiri Jun 01, 2016 06:02am

Get Well Soon Mr. Sahrif. Wishes & prayers from India

Sachin Jun 01, 2016 07:43am

All the best & wish you a very good health, Mr. Prime Minister of Pakistan!

khan baba Jun 01, 2016 08:00am

We all pray that NS procedure goes well and he recovers here are some facts we must all know: NS is going through following procedure and according to a friend UK doctor working in same hospital. "Atrial Fibrillation Ablation is NOT an open heart surgery. The procedure takes less than 45 minutes, preparation takes about an hour and it requires a couple of days in hospital for observation. Maryam Nawaz is exaggerating the seriousness of the procedure."just to gain sympathetic element from masses to divert from Panama leaks.

aslam shaikh Jun 01, 2016 08:59am

Our PM will arise as a completely changed man and do so much work for people that he will become the greatest Prime minister.

Ash Jun 02, 2016 05:12pm

Let us see - PAK PM goes to London for surgery - that means that he himself does not trust the doctors in Pakistan. But a poor goat is sacrificed in PAK since the UK will not permit it?

Not sure if this is funny or ironic!
