Pakistan proposes 'home' series against West Indies in Sri Lanka

Pakistan is weighing options to host West Indies for two Tests and six one-day internationals (ODI) in Sri Lanka this October, Australian Cricket Board’s website reported on Friday.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is unwilling to continue using United Arab Emirates as their 'home' because of the limited revenue generated there, it said.

"PCB is not generating enough revenue from its home series therefore we are looking at the option of hosting West Indies in Sri Lanka. The board is doing its homework in this regard,” PCB Executive Committee Chairman Najam Sethi was quoted as saying.

Sri Lanka will host Australia between July and September after which the Sri Lankan grounds will be available for international commitments.

In 2002, Pakistan used Sri Lanka as a neutral venue to play a test against Australia. The other two tests of the series were played in UAE.

Unlike UAE, Sri Lanka has its own test team. What if they want to have their own home series with some other test team and what if it clashes with Pakistan’s time table? What happens then? Sri Lanka don’t have enough grounds for that.

Just play a small series of T20 in Karachi or Islamabad. Don't play in Lahore - just get mix of the country. And small series of 2 T20 with 2 teams each, a triangular tournament. Complete the tournament in 5-7 days with Ireland and Srilanka. Keep close ties with South Africa and WI

@Dinesh 1. UAE is asking for lot of money to let PCB use its grounds. 2. Gate collections form negligible %age of total revenue. 3. Almost all of revenue comes from selling broadcasting rights.

Why doesn't PCB team up with ICC and play a promotional international tour? A short series in the US, one in Toronto Canada, Vancouver Canada, London England etc? ICC promotes cricket internationally, many expatriates are living in those countries, and those people have higher disposable income in US or CDN dollars. But I can assure you no one will come for test cricket. Everyone works they don't have the time to hand around all day, every day for 5 days. Hence it will have to be a short one day cricket with a few T20s

Better to send Pakistan team to WI and play in Caribbean. Playing against WI on Sri Lankan ground and touting that as a home series does not make sense at all. And who will come to watch these games in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka has its own issues with dwindling crowds even during their own test matches. Does PCB really expect that people will show up to watch 2 Test Matches between Pakistan and West Indies in Sri Lanka?

It is diffcult to make any revenue there either. Cricket is not their favorite either. No pak fan will visit there. They complain for good in india sl home series with no spinners wow. Pak will lost their fast ballers to. Home series with wi in sl disaster written all over it.

Play in SL or Play in UK, just do not do it in the wet season. Primary reason of choosing UAE was the weather where cricket is possible. UK and SL host their own domestic and international cricket during their dry seasons, hence if PCB wants grounds, it will be the wet season and taking a chance.

Strange, how do they expect to generate more revenue from Sri Lanka. If there are not enough spectators in UAE where hundreds of thousands Pakistanis live , then how will they expect more people in the stadiums? I would also like to say, that playing 2 tests is a disgrace, we must at least play 3 tests in a series.

If playing in Pakistan is not possible. then better have the home series in England, where, possibly, there would be enough spectators from the South Asian public willing to pay, and many British senior citizens, who don't have anything else to do.

Pak should tell the world if they want to play with us play in Pakistan or don't play at all. Play the exuberant domestic tournament and make every player play in it. Stop wasting the money on foreign players get rid of negatives like mohsin,Miadad,qadirs,they just spread negativity and stop making pcb villain. No cricket can prosper without its board,these ex were hated when they played not for their talent either. Int. Cricket is out of reach already do not lose domestic either,if people like it they will come and ask forigen office to give tourist visa freely to forigeners to visit if they come no teams can ask for security reasons, save ur cricket.

what has pakistan cricket come to? depending on others to play home series! instead of always being obsessed with india and blaming it for the law and order situation, concentrate in improving the law and order situation. once law and order situation improves, everything will fall in place.
