My rich country

Enchanting sceneries of Kashmir, the exotic bangles of Hyderabad, the cool sea breeze of Karachi, the winter cuisine of Peshawar and magnificent architecture of Lahore and, above all, the cultural heritage of all the provinces, Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and KP — these are not the cues or the reasons for the love I have for Pakistan. The love in my heart is due to the divine words recited at the time of its creation (the Kalma), the untiring struggle that made it a reality, the self-made Sindhis, the warm-hearted Balochis, the brave Pakhtoons and the agile Punjabis.

Why I love Pakistan? Because it bears the blood and toil of our ancestors before it attained freedom; it is the country which is home to mystic personalities, active nation, talented youth and thriving cities.

I love Pakistan, because it is my identity, I consume the food cultivated by our hardworking farmers and I live in luxurious home built by our labourers.

All that I have today is acquired by the collective work of this nation. This is why I love Pakistan.

In retrospect

This is regarding the cover story “In retrospect: ICC World T20 2016” (YW, April 9). Our country didn’t win any trophy but I am still glad to see the West Indies winning two trophies.

Pakistan didn’t win but it doesn’t mean that we should start abusing our team. It is a fact that one team has to win and other teams have to lose; did other countries also abuse their cricketers the way we did? Why are people here so full of hatred?

When India loses, people cheer up and when it wins everyone gets sad… what is all this? Why we are just so full of hatred? Even the kids! We should consider all countries in the same way and teach our children to be just. This is our country and we should respect it. The Pakistan cricket team should work hard and do their best, and we should all pray for the success of our country and our team.
