ISLAMABAD: Apropos a news item headlined ‘Contradictory information in senators’ declarations of assets’ published in Dawn on Saturday, the total assets owned by the spouse of Senator Farogh Naseem, who belongs to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, amount to Rs58.94 million, which includes her bank balances, and not that she has Rs58.94m in banks.

Mr Naseem said that there was nothing contradictory in the statement of assets he had filed to the ECP.

The news item intended to indicate that contrary to the MQM’s claim that it’s a party of people coming from the middle class and low-income groups, the declaration showed that Senator Naseem was a multimillionaire.
