CHITRAL: Bodies of two young men stuffed in a bag were recovered from a river in Kauti area of Damil here on Thursday.

An official of Chitral police told Dawn that the bodies had been identified as that of Shah Faisal (18) and Shafiur Rahman (23), both residents of Damil village located near the Pak-Afghan border. He said that both were slaughtered to death.

The two young men had been missing from Tuesday last and the search was in progress as their relatives had lodged a report with the local police about their disappearance.

Family members of the victims have nominated eight persons of the village in the case as they had enmity with a tribe over ownership of a tract of local forest. The police have arrested six of the suspects.

The incident is said to be the first of its kind in the district which created panic in the valley and the adjoining villages.
