SIALKOT: Residents of several areas of Pasrur city on Sunday held a protest against the tehsil municipal administration (TMA) for its failure to repair sewerage in their areas, resulting in sewage accumulated on the roads and streets for the last several months.

The protesters, including women and children, chanted slogans against TMA officials and blocked traffic on city roads by burning tyres on them.

They told the media that the streets and roads their areas, including Rehmanpura, Buhadarpura, Tajpura, Hanifpura, Muslim Colony, Taimoor Colony, Inayatpura, Umeedpura, Shah Malook Road, Katchery Road, Kalaaswala Road, Civil Hospital Road and Godown Road were inundated with stagnant sewage since long. The TMA Pasrur concerned officials turned a blind eyes towards the nasty situation which was creating problems for the residents, especially spread of diseases among children.

They alleged that the TMA Pasrur did not take action to rectify the situation despite complaints.

Pasrur Assistant Commissioner Tauqeer Ilyas Cheema said TMA workers were busy rectifying the sewerage on emergency grounds.
