KARACHI: Pakistan is a safe country for staging the international sports events and Softball Confederation Asia should play its role towards organising international matches of softball in Pakistan, renowned sports patron Dr Farhan Essa said on Thursday.

“We are ready for hosting the international teams of softball,” said Dr Farhan while speaking at the softball awards ceremony organised by secretary general of the Softball federation of Pakistan (SFP) Asif Azeem.

Later, SFP awarded a medal to Dr Farhan in recognition of his services to sports.

Dr. Farhan, who is also chief executive officer of Essa Laboratories, said that SFP has introduced softball in Pakistan in a shorter span of time and because of its efforts this game is gaining popularity at the grassroots level in the country.

He also called for organising more training courses for the benefit of Pakistan’s coaches, umpires as well as the players and offered his organization’s cooperation in this regard.
