CHARSADDA: The teachers and students of a private school organised a fund raising campaign for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, Peshawar, at the Charsadda interchange toll plaza on the motorway here.

The students, including girls and boys, sold tickets of Shaukat Khanum Hospital to motorists at the toll plaza to raise funds for the under-construction hospital in Hayatabad Peshawar.

Talking to media persons, Peshawar Model School Charsadda branch director Qaisar Shehzad, and principal Nasrat Nazeer said saving one life was equal to saving the whole humanity. They said the campaign was aimed at creating awareness among people about the deadly disease of cancer and also instill a sense of duty among them to help patients suffering from the disease.

STUDENTS’ GROWTH: The teachers should organise extracurricular activities regularly in schools to create a sense of competition among students.

“We need to polish the talents of girls students through sports, debates and other competitions and inculcate an element of confidence in them,” Sofia Tabassum, provincial deputy director, education (female), told a ceremony held at the government girls higher secondary school, Sherpao, here on Wednesday.

Students could perform well in future if teachers focused on their proper growth both in academic and sports fields, she said.

On the occasion, students presented tableaus, skits and received applause from the audience. Colourfully dressed girls also recited naat, poems, sang national songs and performed stunts. They were awarded cash prizes and trophies.

SPORTS COMPLEX: The Khan Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex completed at a cost of Rs500 million will be functional soon.
