PTI denied permission

ISLAMABAD: PTI chief Imran Khan has been denied permission to stage two public meetings in the federal capital on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner Mushtaq Ahmed told Dawn that last week PTI had asked for permission to stage public meetings at Taramari Chowk and Peshawar Mor, adding that the request had been denied.

PTI MNA from Islamabad Asad Umar had written to the DC for permission to hold the corner meetings, but ICT officials said that they had been informed that according to the ECP’s code of conduct, parliamentarians cannot attend such public gatherings ahead of local polls.

When asked about the party’s plan for Friday now that ICT administration had denied them permission, he said that since ruling party MNAs were also doing the same thing, their party also had a right to emulate them. “Imran Khan will also visit the camps, but it is not certain whether he will address the gathering or not,” he said.
