ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will leave for Uzbekistan on a two-day official visit on November 17 to further deepen the multifaceted ties between the two countries.

During his stay in Tashkent, the prime minister will meet President Islam Karimov to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

A joint declaration and a few other documents aimed at enhancing bilateral ties will be signed during the visit.

Cooperation in combating terrorism and ways to promote bilateral ties will come under discussion as both the leaders will exchange views on global and regional situation.

A high-level delegation comprising premier's special assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi, foreign affairs adviser Sartaj Aziz, adviser on aviation Shujaat Azeem and other senior officials will accompany Nawaz on the two-day visit.

The visit is part of the regular high-level exchanges between the two brotherly countries who enjoy cordial and warm relations.

Pakistan and Uzbekistan share similar views on major regional and international issues and collaborate closely in United Nations, Organisation of Islamic Countries, Economic Cooperation Organisation and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

The prime minister's visit to Uzbekistan is reflective of this priority and broader commitment to further strengthen Pakistan's engagement with Central Asia.

The visit would provide an important opportunity to cement and consolidate cooperation in the fields of energy, trade, regional connectivity, culture, tourism and people-to-people contacts, while also exploring new areas of collaboration.
