GUJRAT: Re-polling in nine wards of rural and urban union councils of the district will be held on Nov 14.

Polling in these wards could not be held on Oct 31 due to shortage of ballot papers and missing symbols of some candidates on them.

However, the fresh election schedule for at least two rural union councils, including Tanda and Mota of Gujrat tehsil and ward 19 of Jalalpur Jattan municipal committee, is yet to be issued.

The election could not be held in the two UCs due to delay in delimitation which has now been done whereas in Jalalpur’s city ward nomination papers of all four candidates had been rejected on technical grounds. After announcement of new schedule, fresh nomination papers will be sought in these UCs and ward.

District Election Commissioner Majid Sharif Dogar told Dawn that arrangements had been made to hold re-polling in three wards of as many UC of the Gujrat city’s municipal corporation, including ward 4 of UC-2, ward 5 of UC-3 and ward 5 of UC-5.

In the rural areas of the district where re-polling will be done are ward 1 and 5 of UC-18 Lakhanwal of Gujrat tehsil, ward 5 of UC-63 Warraichanwala, ward 5 of UC-99 Kakrali of Kharian tehsil, ward 4 of UC-107 Pir Khana and ward 4 of UC-108 Besa of Sara-i-Alamgir tehsil.

UoG: The University of Gujrat (UoG) held a two-day training workshop on entrepreneurship to help the students discover new horizons in practical life.

The workshop is part of a memorandum of understanding between the UoG and Shaoor Foundation for Education and Awareness (SFEA).

The trainers of the Pakistan’s Entrepreneurs’ Network for Youth (PENY) conducted training sessions for 150 students.

DOMICILE: The district government will set up official camps at University of Gujrat and other colleges of the district to facilitate the students for the issuance of the domiciles on the spot.

The decision to hold the camps at the educational institutions was made at a meeting to review the citizen’s feedback model with Gujrat DCO Liaqat Ali Chatha in the chair.

The meeting also took serious notice of involvement of agent mafia in fleecing the domicile seekers while filling the application form and directed the branch concerned of the DCO office to take action against such elements.
