LAHORE: Justice Ijazul Ahsan took oath as a 44th Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court in a ceremony held at Governor’s House here on Friday.

Governor Rafique Rajwana administered the oath to the new chief justice.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab Assembly speaker, judges of the LHC, provincial ministers, vice chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council, presidents and office bearers of Lahore High Court Bar Association and Lahore Bar Association, law officers also graced the occasion.

The participants congratulated the newly-appointed chief justice.

After taking oath, Chief Justice Ahsan reached the LHC where guard of honour was presented to him as per tradition.

Justice Ahsan would reach superannuation on Aug 4, 2022. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah has become senior puisne judge of the LHC.

Former LHC chief justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik was elevated to the Supreme Court.
