KARACHI: Pugilists of Karachi South dominated the opening day of the two-day NBP Cup Quaid-i-Millat Boxing Championship which commenced at the Ali Mohammad Qambrani Stadium Kakri ground on Friday.

Nine boxers of South were through to the finals in the event that is being held in 10 weights of senior category.

South is followed by West whose seven boxers have sailed into the finals. Two boxers from Malir and one apiece from Central and Korangi have completed the line up.

Fifty two boxers from the six districts of the city are taking part in the competition which is organised by Sindh Boxing Association (SBA).

The event is part of preparation for the national boxing championship which is being held in the city from Nov 25 to 29, said SBA secretary Asghar Baloch.
