LAHORE: PPP’s NA-122 candidate Barrister Aamir Hasan has dispelled the reports that he may boycott by-poll in protest against the Election Commission of Pakistan’s apathy towards the ruling party’s and PTI candidate’s violation of code of conduct.

“Despite no action by the ECP against PML-N’s Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and PTI’s Abdul Aleem Khan for spending lavishly on the campaign, the PPP will not boycott the election,” Mr Hasan told Dawn here on Saturday.

He said the PPP was fully geared up to contest the Sunday’s election. “Our polling agents will check the rigging attempts of the rival candidates,” he said.

Meanwhile, PPP Secretary General Latif Khosa has urged the ECP to perform its duty and take notice of gross violation of its code of conduct by the PML-N and PTI candidates.

“This will not reflect well on the future elections if the ECP fails to perform its duty,” Khosa said while talking to reporters here on Saturday.
