APROPOS the news item “Ogra proposes new petrol, diesel prices” (Sept 30). While surfing the internet I found that the prices of crude oil in the international market had declined by 10 to 12 pc in September.
Theoretically, therefore, the prices of all petroleum products derived from crude oil should be reduced by at least 10pc. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority had also recommended to the government that prices be decreased. However, the government decided to ignore Ogra and rejected its recommendations, choosing instead to maintain prices at the current higher level.
This speaks volumes about how much the government really cares about the people. The least it could have done was to give some relief to the poor by reducing the price of kerosene and diesel.
