KHAR: A man was killed and three others injured when their vehicle came under a bomb attack early on Monday morning in Khar tehsil of Bajaur tribal region.
According to officials, a pro-government tribal elder, Malak Wasid Khan and his two young relatives were going from his Mandal village to Khar, the administrative headquarters of Bajaur agency, when the bomb was detonated by remote control near Kosar, 11km northwest of Khar.
Driver Abdul Qadar Khan, the elder and the two children were injured and taken to a hospital where Abdul Qadar died.
Hospital sources said Malak Wasid Khan had been referred to Peshawar because of his critical condition.
A team of local administration officials launched a search operation in the area after the attack.
Officials believed the attack was carried out by militants.
Terrorist activities have escalated in Bajaur during the past week, claiming seven lives — most of them pro-government tribal elders from various localities.
