ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf (PTI) on Monday officially announced a protest rally to be held at D-Chowk on October 4 to announce the plan of action for a possible sit-in to pressurise officials from the Election Commission of Pakistan to tender their resignations.
Previously, PTI chief Imran Khan had demanded resignations or ouster of four provincial election commissioners for what he called their failure to hold free and fair elections in 2013.
PTI's additional secretary information Faisal Javed Khan told DawnNews that the situation seems to be heading towards another sit-in.
During the one-day protest rally, PTI chief Imran Khan is expected to announce a new deadline for the ECP officials to tender their resignations. The plan of action for the possible sit-in will be similar to the party's crucial rally that took place on November 30 last year.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said last week that his party will hold a sit-in outside the Election Commission’s building in Islamabad on Oct 4 if members of the commission do not tender resignations by then.
Addressing his party’s office-bearers and workers here on Saturday, Imran Khan said that the PTI would take part in by-elections and the coming elections for local governments.
If the Chief Election Commissioner did not take a decision in one month, Imran Khan said, he would call his party workers across the country to gather outside the ECP office in the capital on Oct 4.
“The party will reveal its future strategy on the same day,” he had added.

Imran is now batting on a weak wicket. The CPEC and the coming peace with more business, contracts, spending thanks to this initiative will make voters more PML-N in keeping the peace. Imran should also try to fix the KP as well as he can and also as quickly as he can so he can point to something tangible.

@JZ 90 Percent of the PTI is the old left over from other parties. Jehangir Tareen was the friend of Musharraf. So does Qasuri and most of the people around him. Hamza Abbasi's mother is the MNA from PPP. His candidate Aleem Khan in Lahore is a known Drug Kingpin . The list goes on and on. Imran Khan is infact representing the rejected and rotten status quo.

IK is in a school yard fight compared to what is happening right now in Pakistan. He is light on foreign policy and international business contacts. He should be happy with a seat in the national parliament where he can become a seasoned politician. Barack Obama went to the US Senate before becoming president. IK would get a better understanding of the Pak military from other senators and start building relationships.

I hear everything that IK is saying - and granted these ECP officials might be corrupt/rotten to the core.
However, there is NEVER any point to rally/demonstrate about a problem; unless of course you have a solution.
Has IK presented a solution in this matter yet?
In other words, if these ECP officials are dismissed, do we have a back-up team of capable, clean, honest, independent officials that can take over?
Or do we just replace the current officials with others that might be even worse?
If the solution is Army/Rangers etc, then we are actually heading back to military rule and not a revised Naya Pakistan that is clean and democratic.

1) What have you done for the change in Pakistan?
2) Sitting in cozy room in front of computer is easy; rather then raising voice physically.
3) If this is wrong stance then what is correct stance?
4) Should we keep asking for our rights till the voice ends by death?
Must ask these question before criticizing.

ECP positions are constitutionally protected tenure positions. Does IK understand that if they are forced to resign by agitation what consequences it will have? Tomorrow if AAZ or NS are in opposition and IK is the PM they will force the ECP members to resign by street protest.Does that augment well for the future of election transparency in our country? This is against the very reason IK is taking to streets.I hope saner elements in PTI will talk to Khan Sb. and try to explain him the consequences because I do not think he has the ability to get to it.

@Awan - You have to admit that politics in Pakistan is the play ground of the rich elites who can afford a lot of money till next elections. In Pakistan's politics your life is even on stack. So who will stand against the corrupt elites? You have to work together with them until the society became well being to select their leaders.
As far as Imran Khan is concern. You have witnessed the change in KPK. The one change is far more important and that is that Punjab now compares itself with KPK.
Have you ever imagine before? Punjab will compare itself with KPK? That's change.

There is no moral grounds for ECP to continue their job after being exposed by judicial commission report. They will only understand the language of dharna / rallies. As a matter of fact GOVT only reacts after street agitation etc. But it should be absolutely peaceful.

IK has already misused government assets even without having any portfolio in the government, Sir. PTI's accounts are never complete. The party which cannot maintain own accounts is not competent to look after national finances. IK and PTI have already proven their incompetence in KPK. In KPK LG winners of PTI are mostly relatives of the CM and ministers. PTI is nothing but slogans, blame game, and U-Turns.

Just one comparison of punjab and KPK governance: lahore metro built and functional in 1 year. Peshawar metro?? KPK govt announced 2 years into their tenure that even feasibility is not done. And there will be no metro in this term of government. Maybe next time if they are reelected.

Too many rallies and dharnas will reduce their effectiveness when really required. Instead he should boycott elections on two National Assembly seats as mark of protest.
PTI should preserve its energy for solving problems of public importance in KPK. Overhaul public transportation system by introducing more buses, repairing roads, designating lanes on roads for public transportation and enforcing discipline in traffic movement.
Overhaul government school management, produce more trained teachers teachers and wipe out unfair means for passing exams. For teaching English, maths and science import teachers from abroad, modernize textbooks to the pattern of Singapore.
City governments should ensure cleanness and safe water supply.

Durbari ministers will not enter reffrence to supreme judicial counsel. Vote corruption, mandate corruption is much more serious than financial corruption or any other corruption. I am not a PTI supporter but deem IK to be the last ray of hope for a hopeless nation.
IK stood on the container for you people and got a lot done for the country because of it. People are aware of rigging now and the its only a matter of time before the enlightened youth out votes the old system. Imran Khan's cricket references are immature and cringe worthy but his intentions are good. Something that cannot be said for anyone else in the position of power.

It is proved that four Major constituencies in Punjab had major irregularities
which caused PTI to loose main seats in Lahore including Imran Khan seat .
It is also possible that now in Bye election PTI would not be able to get same
response as in election 2013 on those seats. So PTI is affected greatly with all those irregularities. Why would someone still think that Eclection Commission members
should not resign?

@Fahad Hold on sir. Whoever can dismiss EC has already been approach by IK (Judicial Council). Now why is this Dharna. Can not he wait to see the outcome of his complain against EC. In any case EC is going to complete term in 8 months why IK is making a big deal of it. Next election will be held by new EC members, but ego of IK is not allowing him to wait till that time.
I voted to IK and was strong supporter but I found he doesn't care about country but for himself only.

ECP officials should not resign if the issue is with the process and not the people.
I know it is ECP's job to ensure fair and free elections but if the system allows people to stuff bogus votes or throw away boxes full of votes or buy votes then you cant really blame the people.
Do you blame police for all the thefts and robberys in Pakistan? Should a DIG or ISP resign every time there is a robbery?
Unless there is proof that ECP took part in rigging or turned a blind when it couldve done something then they should not resign.
