RAWALPINDI: A vendor was allegedly beaten up by his wife and children and then left chained in his home in Naseerabad on Wednesday.

Upon hearing the victim, Saleem Khan’s cries, the neighbours called Rescue 1122 who then shifted him to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.

During medical examination, torture marks were found on the victim’s body, although a final report is awaited.

“After the medical examination report is received a case will be registered with the police on the complaint of the victim,” Sub-inspector Zulfiqar Ali said.

He added that the victim claimed that following a disagreement over his three-year-old daughter, his two sons, Naveeb, 17, and Sowab, 18, and his wife began to beat him and later chained him.

“I was beaten up by my wife and two sons, who later chained my legs and locked me in a room, after which they escaped to their native town in Peshawar,” Khan said in his statement.

Police officials said that neighbours reported that in the 18 months since the family shifted to the area, they were often found quarrelling over petty issues.
