LAHORE: Punters and turf accountants shared the day’s proceedings evenly when three favourite horses won in a card of six events during the Lahore Summer Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

The well-backed favourite horses to win were Legend Prince, Baby On Board and Lucky Murad in the first, second and fourth race, respectively while in other events horses on long odds won with public fancies failing to oblige.

In the second race the Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards took a very right step to warn off riding boy Nawazish Raza who did not allow his mount bay colt Imandar to run on merit to let long shot filly Aie Guriya to win while occupying fourth berth.

However, they took lenient view of the handling by jockey Bilal Ahmed of bay horse Heart Beat in the fourth race and Welcome Puma in the fifth race, both of whom were backed heavily.

Bilal used every tactics not to let his both mounts to run on merit and was lucky to escape the watchful eye of the stewards.
