PESHAWAR: Two suspected terrorists escaped from custody under mysterious circumstances at Gulbahar police station on Tuesday night prompting the police high-ups to order an inquiry against the station house officer concerned.

Official sources said that the two suspects, whose names could not be verified, were taken into custody a few days ago in connection with an attack on a team of Rider Squad police here. The attack had resulted in death of one police official identified as Janat Gul and injuries to the other.

Following the occurrence, SSP Dr Mian Saeed has ordered an inquiry against the SHO concerned. Two gunmen of the SHO have also been taken into custody.

An official said that the two terror suspects fled away during their shifting from one portion of the police station to another for interrogation. Apparently, the suspects were in illegal custody as they had not been produced before any court for getting their physical custody.
