BOTH Sherry Rehman and Qamar Zaman Kaira cut a sorry figure while trying to convince journalists that Asif Ali Zardari in his address of June 16 had referred to e generals and dictators of the past and not the present military leadership for whom he had great respect.

Even a primary school child would know who Zardari had in mind when he said: “You are here for only three years. It is we who will remain here forever.” (Generals of the past have already gone long ago, most have died).

At the close of his tirade he hollered thrice “Hoshiar! Hoshiar! Hoshiar!” (One doesn’t serve such a warning to the dead and the bygones. It is only for those who are still around.)
