KARACHI: Riding on a crest wave, Dollar East completed a double early Friday morning by lifting the Dr M. A. Shah Night Ramazan Trophy with a thumping six-wicket victory over Omar Associates in an exciting final here at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium.

Dollar East had won the Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cup where they coincidentally defeated Omar Cricket Club by two runs in the final last Saturday.

Chasing a stiff challenge of 166, Dollar East were reeling at 31-3 before Khurram Shahzad (81) and Waqas Haroon (60 not out) combined together to stage an incredible fight back.

Khurram smashed half a dozen sixes and belted six boundaries in his 81 after facing 51 deliveries to the delight of a modest thousand crowd at the ground.

Earlier, put into to bat, Omar Associates recovered after losing opener Omar Siddique to score a competitive total of 166 for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs. Opener Nauman Anwar made a fine 52 off 41 balls with four boundaries. Fazal hit three massive sixes and one four in his 34 and Saad Nasim made 32.

At the presentation ceremony, Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui was chief guest and presented the glittering trophy to Dollar East captain Mohammad Sami plus a cash award of Rs500,000 while Omar Associates’ captain Adnan Kalim received runners-up trophy and Rs250, 000.

Late Dr Shah’s wife Asma Shah and her son Imran Ali Shah, ex-Pakistan captain Moin Khan, ex-chief selector Salahuddin Sallu, Tournament Director Nusrat Fahim, head of Dollar East Sports Zaheer Ahmed Shaikh and other officials were also present on the occasion.
