DADU: A dust storm followed by showers on Wednesday hit Dadu city, Khaipur Nathan Shah, Shaheed Makhdoom Bilawal and several other towns of the district paralysing life and blowing away hoardings and electricity poles but causing no casualties.

The power supply network in the affected towns was badly affected and work to restore electricity in most of the areas was continuing till late in the evening.

Meanwhile, protesters blocked the road with junk and burning tyres to disrupt vehicular traffic on the intercity route for four hours.

A large number of people held a demonstration on Dadu-Sehwan section of the Indus Highway against a 16-hour outage in Dadu city before the storm hit the district.

They said parts of the city experienced the 16-hour outage while 10 burnt-out transformers left the other parts of the city without electricity for an indefinite period.
