OKARA: The PPP held an emergency meeting of the party’s district chapter presided over by Senior Vice President Rana Gul Nasir, which was attended by party office-bearers from all three tehsils of the district.

The party’s District General Secretary Farooq Ashraf Sangoka told the participants former district president Ashraf Sohna had been trying to join the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf for a few months and was disinterested in the party’s activities.

Due to his suspicious political activities, party’s Punjab President Mian Manzoor Wattoo had established a four-member committee comprising former provincial minister and party’s Divisional Coordinator Mahr Ghulam Farid Kathia as the head with Sahiwal District President Chaudhry Muhammad Zaki, Pakpattan District President Humayun Bodla and Okara Tehsil President Rana Basit Ali Khan as members.

The committee had submitted its report about the suspicious political activities of Ashraf Sohna. Wattoo, after consultation with the party’s central leadership, had issued a show-cause notice to Sohna.

The meeting rejected Sohna’s allegations that he had quit the party due to Wattoo’s behaviour. The party would hold a general public meeting on July 1 (tomorrow).
