KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Monday termed recent allegations against his party a nefarious plan, warning that attempts to remove him as MQM chief would result in "war in every nook and corner".
In a telephonic address from London to party loyalists in Karachi, Altaf categorically denied all allegations that MQM has connections with the Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and the party received funding from Indian authorities, as claimed by a a startling report published by the BBC.
"I swear by God...there is no connection with RAW," he said.

Altaf also asked party workers to "prepare themselves for sit-ins". He said if Imran Khan could organise a sit-in for three months then "we will organise sit-ins for six months".
Altaf said the MQM has had no association with RAW and party workers were "ready to sacrifice their lives in the fight against RAW", if time calls for it.

The MQM supremo linked accusations of receiving Indian funding and affiliation with RAW to the "minus Altaf formula" saying there will be bloodshed on streets if he were removed by any means.
"Claims of [MQM] receiving Indian funding are baseless and lies," he said.
Altaf also expressed disapproval of the Rangers in Karachi, saying Director General (DG) Major General Bilal Akbar should have taken "honest decisions".

Altaf said he did not preach acts such as extortion and forceful collection of fitra and hides of sacrificial animals.
He further said allegations of creating 'Jinnahpur' were leveled against him in the past when attempts to murder him failed.
Altaf also asked for the abolition of quota system in Sindh in favour of merit.

"Even if my own brother is involved in terrorism, he should be apprehended and presented in court," the MQM chief said.

Instead of swearing and fiery denials Altaf Hussain should take legal action against Owen Bennet Jones and BBC for defamation if the allegation of Indian funding is really false.

In all sincerity, if Altaf wants MQM to survive as a viable political party, he needs to quit and resign. There are several capable individuals in the MQM who can now lead the Party and transform it into a non-personality centric political institution. He should also realize that the people of Karachi want to live in peace and no one will fight for him in the streets of Karachi. He should take lessons from ZAB who was a much larger leader but when he was hanged wrongfully by a military dictator, no people came out to save him and the PPP still exists

The powers that be are trying to malign MQM again with the same old allegations of Jinnahpoor and links with RAW that are at least 30 years old if not more. It is curious why BBC (the divide and conquer establishment) decided to suddenly publish a "report" on more than 3 years old "testimonies" now that MQM was proving to be a thorn in the side of the powers that be. Karachiites, it is time to unite again and not let the divide and conquer strategy work against us anymore. United we stand, divided we fall.

@Rahat Afroz - It is MQM and its leadership that has isolated themselves. They are the ones who always supported Dictators and aligned with a corrupt party. Accusations of this nature can only be fought through media for so long, a concrete legal defense strategy is required by MQM and its leadership. Promoting violence and using loyalist to fight is not an option. MQM as a party is above any individuals.

That is so true. MQM is incomplete without Altaf Hussain. People who are dreaming of an end of MQM are unaware of the ground realities. An example of that was presented in NA 256 elections. People of urban sindh are strong supporters of MQM and will not withdraw their support based on conspiracies and allegations.
The one thing these conspiracies has done is that it has gelled MQM supporters even more as it is now MQM Vs rest of political parties.

I think the sane thing is to let Altaf Hussain come back to Pakistan and restructure his party. Honestly he can t be held accountable for everybody's actions in a city with population of 20 million and party whose membership runs in hundreds of thousands. I think he should apologize like a magnanimous leader for things he has said and racial politics and then come back and reorganize his party like a progressive middle class urdu speaking party that he claims it is, with no links to violence.

Don't forget Tariq Mir has not said that the transcript of his interview is not true and just as importantly British authorities have confirmed its authenticity. So, this is already damning evidence and worrisome for all patriotic people.
