GUJRANWALA, Oct 6: Around 300 daily-wagers of the National Bank were regularized by a seven-member team of senior officers after interviewing candidates here on Monday.

NBP Trade Union Federation had demanded bank president Syed Ali Raza that ad hoc employees working for the last several years should be regularized.

Accepting the union demand, the bank president constituted a seven-member team comprising senior vice-presidents — Safdar Raza Rizvi, Mukhtar Ahmad, Abu Talib, Tanvir Alam and others. The team interviewed the daily wagers and regularized them on the same day.

NBP’s Trade Union Federation central president Akbar Ali Khan and other office-bearers were also present on the occasion.

At least 1,500 daily wagers across the country have been regularized, including 300 employees of the Gujranwala region.

APPROVAL: President Pervez Musharraf approved a special grant of Rs40 million for the provision of gas to Noshera Virkan tehsil.

This was stated by Naushera Virkan tehsil Nazim Sardar Tariq Raza Gujjar while talking to newsmen here on Monday.

He said he met president in Islamabad on Sunday last and presented his annual report of the local body system and apprised him of the absence of gas facility in Naushera Virkan.

ROUNDED UP: Civil Lines police claimed to have arrested a three-member gang of robbers in a raid and recovered illicit arms and looted goods from their possession here on Monday.

A police spokesman said that the arrested accused were involved in several cases of dacoity, robbery and other heinous crime.
