LAHORE: A condemned prisoners was executed in Kot Lakhpat Central jail, while black warrants of another two were issued on Wednesday.

Convict Javed had killed Qasim and Saddiq in Cantonment Courts area on Sept 19, 1987.

The trial court had awarded him death sentence on two counts in 1989.

Tight security arrangements were made in and around the prison during the execution of the convict early in the morning.

The prisoner was executed after the superior judiciary and the president turned down his mercy petitions.

Later, jail authorities handed over the body to the heirs after completing legal formalities.

Meanwhile, the Kot Lakhpat jail authorities pleaded the court to issue death warrants of two condemned prisoner as their mercy petitions had been turned down by the superior judiciary and the president.

The district and sessions judge issued on Wednesday death warrants of two murder convicts – Shamsul Haq and Nawaz – on the request of jail authorities.

Shamsul Haq will be sent to gallows in the early hours on Thursday (today) at Kot Lakhpat Jail while Nawaz will be executed on June 9 at Sahiwal Central Jail.

BLACK WARRANTS: The district and sessions judge issued black warrants of two condemned prisoners.

Kot Lakhpat Central Jail authorities requested the court to issued black warrants of condemned prisoners Aftab Sheikh and Ghulam Mustafa, who were found guilty of killing a man in Gulshan Iqbal police area in 1992. Their mercy petitions were turned down by the SC and the president.

The judge issued death warrants of the both. They would be hanged at Kot Lakhpat Central Jail early on June 10.

Death sentence: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday sentenced a kidnap-for-ransom-cum-murder suspect to death on two counts.

Police produced Shabbir Husain for his alleged involvement in a kidnap-for-ransom case.

The prosecution stated before the court that the suspect had kidnapped five-year-old Ali Ashraf of Mandi Faizabad in 2012 and also received Rs4 million from his family.

The prosecutor pleaded that the suspect after receiving the ransom money killed the minor to hide his identification.

The presiding judge sentenced Shabbir to death on two counts. He also ordered confiscation of all moveable and immoveable property of the convict.
