SARGODHA: Pakistan Science Foundation Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Ashraf appreciated the contribution of the University of Sargodha (UoS) to science and technology.

He was addressing a one-day workshop on intellectual property rights organised by the Pakistan Science Foundation and the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (ORIC) of the UoS on Friday. He assured the university of more funds and resources in the future.

UoS vice chancellor Muhammad Akram said the people at the helm of affairs should not think of their personal gains but the progress and development of the country.

ORIC Director Ishtiaq Hussain also spoke.

ARRESTED:The Punjab Highway Division’s chief engineer was arrested from the court after the special judge anti-corruption rejected his ad-interim bail.

Chief Engineer Shaukat Shaheen was accused of corruption of millions of rupees and had been absconding since 2010. He HAD applied for bail when he was traced by the anti-corruption establishment but his plea was rejected.

ENCROACHMENTS: In order to continue encroachment, shopkeepers have got electricity and telephone poles installed in front of their shops to capture at least 10 feet of space on roads.

The tehsil municipal administration (TMA) has given a warning to shopkeepers in the city to remove extra shades in from of their shops within 10 days.

The banks, schools, commercial plazas and other offices have also been warned to remove encroachments, particularly generators, installed on footpaths, otherwise, the TMA would not only remove encroachments and also confiscate generators and other things found on the footpaths.
