BATKHELA: People from different walks of life paid rich tributes to late journalist, poet, teacher and social worker, Mohammad Jamil Taj Shalmani here the other day.

In this regard, a local NGO, Mawakhat Welfare Organisation, arranged a condolence reference at the government higher secondary school, Thana.

Journalists, poets, writers, teachers, political and social activists from different districts of Malakand division, including special adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Shakil Khan, chairman Mawakhat Welfare Organisation Shahab Hussain, PPP leader Ghani Mohammad Khan, president Thana Press Club Fazal Manan, poets Fazal Wahab Kamil and Zarnoosh Shahab were among those in attendance.

The speakers highlighted different aspects of the life of deceased journalist, and said he was an ideal teacher, reporter, poet, script writer, calligrapher, electrician and mathematician. They said late Jamil Taj had never worked for earning wealth but spent all his life for serving the poor community.

The speakers while remembering good times spent with the late poet and journalist said that despite very busy life he always worked for provision of social services to the people of Thana, Malakand protected area.

The speakers said the deceased played active role in different fields of life and proved that a man could change the whole society through practical work.

The participants expressed sorrow over the sudden death of Jamil Taj and said the vacuum created by him would not be filled for decades.

They also offered Fateha for the departed soul.

Shakil Khan announced that he would try his level best to establish a memorial in recognition of the services rendered by the deceased journalist for society.
