University Road

Published April 25, 2015

THIS refers to the pathetic condition of University Road in Karachi. It is surprising that this road is being ignored by the city administration.

Unrestricted encroachment along the road points to the absence of control and authority. Open spaces along the road have turned into restaurants and dumping grounds for construction material, causing congestion.

The garbage dumps along the road are frequented by cattle from neighbouring villages. They are yet another traffic and health hazard. There is unrestricted movement of Qingqis. When they make zigzag moves disregarding traffic rules, they pose a threat to other commuters.

The absence of designated crossings and overhead pedestrian bridges poses a serious risk to old people and women. Safoora Chowk is a mess. Murals of two political parties and a Rangers checkpost have caused an obstruction.

This chaotic situation needs to be controlled by the government department concerned. Let’s make Karachi clean and beautiful.
