THE Frontier Crime Regulation (FCR) is the law of the land for the Federally-Administrated Tribal Areas of Pakistan. It has been executed since 1901. Many people, including prominent politicians, are against this and called it a draconian law. They want to repeal it as soon as possible.

The previous government had amended and modified the FCR and almost all the clauses which which were draconian.

Needless to say the FCR is also providing us a jirga system which is like a soul for the tribal people. Repelling this law means repelling the jirga system which is not acceptable to anyone.

Although there are certain clauses which need to be modified but complete abolition of the FCR is never recommended. Collective responsibility (21 FCR) made the FCR open to criticism. This should be modified as a first priority.
