SUKKUR: The Majlis-i-Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM) on Friday took out a rally in Jacobabad, where over 55 people were killed and many others wounded in a suicide bomb attack on Jan 30, to condemn the Sindh government’s alleged failure to implement an agreement it had signed with the party’s leadership in Karachi a few weeks later.

The rally started from Masjid-i-Mustafa and after passing through various roads ended outside the local press club, where the protesters staged a sit-in.Speaking to the participants, MWM leaders Allama Saif Ali Domki, Hassan Raza Ghuderi, Shahid Hussain Jawadi, Barkat Ali Wagan and others recalled that a 22-point agreement was signed by the provincial government after the Shuhada Committee, formed after the carnage, organised a long march from Jacobabad to Karachi on Feb 19. However, the agreement was yet to be implemented in full, they said.

They alleged that the provincial government was not taking interest in punishing the mastermind and their terrorist gangs responsible for the carnage and similar acts of terrorism targeted against the Shia community.

The situation across Sindh was turning from bad to worse but no action was being taken by the chief minister to bring about an improvement by implementing the main points of the agreement, they added.

They said that the families of the carnage victims were not being provided justice while the Shia community in the province had been left at the mercy of terrorists. They urged the government to implement the agreement as per its commitment.
