LAHORE: Three-goal Shah Shamyl Alam helped Rijas beat Artex International 7-3 ½ on the opening day of the Silver Polo Cup here on Tuesday.

The losing side had 2 ½ handicap which helped them lead the first chukker with a slim margin of 2½-2 as Faisal Khan and Faisal Shahzad hit one goal for the winning side. But Shamyl earned his first goal in the second chukker to put the winners 3- 2 ½ ahead.

Maintaining pressure, the winners scored two more goals in the third chukker one each through Shamyl and Faisal to increase the lead to 5-2 ½. In the fourth chukker, Shamyl and Faisal pumped in one more each to make the tally as the lone consolation goal from the losing side came through Mian Shahzad Aziz in the same chukker.

Also, Lotto Carpets Singapore defeated Diamond Paints 4-2 ½ as three matches of two chukkers each were also played. Noon’s carved out a 3- 2 ½ win against Diamond Paints with the former also defeating Lotto Carpets Singapore 5-0 in another match.
