HYDERABAD: Local leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz have appealed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Mamnoon Hussain to approve a development package of Rs10 billion with a view to improving deteriorating infrastructure of Hyderabad and poor health facilities.

They also announced holding a “Hyderabad Masail Conference” on April 14.

Speaking to reporters during a press conference held at the local press club on Monday, local PML-N leaders Sultan Shaikh, Asif Rauf Butt and Shahid Malik urged the rulers to have mercy on the residents of Hyderabad because they were facing numerous civic problems, including dilapidated roads, poor health facilities and deteriorating sewerage system. The elected representatives of Hyderabad were not raising the issues because of some vested interests, they claimed.

They said Hyderabad was a beautiful city of the country. In the past, roads were washed, sewerage system was kept efficient while hospitals were not in such bad conditions, they said.

“But these days, there are heaps of garbage which are breeding grounds for mosquitoes, but there is no spray for killing mosquitoes by the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC),” they said.

They urged the premier and the president to approve the development and dispel the sense of deprivation that prevailed among the people of Hyderabad.

They also urged them to send Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar or any other federal minister to preside over the moot titled “Hyderabad Masail Conference” to be held at the residence of Sultan Shaikh for highlighting the problems being faced by the residents of Hyderabad.

They vowed that dignitaries and top government officers would also be invited to the moot.
