KARACHI: K-Electric and Khayaban-e-Amin sealed two of the semi-final berths of the Patron’s Trophy (Grade-II) Cricket Tournament after sealing two-day victories in the last-round of matches on Thursday.

K-Electric romped to an innings and 16-run win against Sindh Police at the RLCA Gulberg Ground to finish atop Group ‘A’. Leg-spinner Shahzaib Ahmed Khan, touted as a Pakistan prospect after an excellent last season, bagged match figures of 10 for 91 as the policemen mustered totals of 156 and 137 in two visits to the crease.

In the same pool Pakistan Customs registered an inconsequential innings and 82 runs victory against Medicam at the UBL Sports Complex. Paceman Basit Ali claimed six wickets in each innings to end up with match figures of 12-88.

Khayaban-e-Amin booked their last-four spot from Group ‘D’ after crushing Service Industries by an innings and 72 runs at the Khayaban-e-Amin Cricket Ground in Lahore.

Resuming their overnight first innings at 246-7, the home side extended their score to 406-7 declared with Shakeel Ahmed (150 off 145 balls, 11 sixes and seven fours) and skipper Yasir Ajmal (114 off 197, 14 boundaries) sharing an unbroken eighth-wicket partnership of 239 in 188 minutes.

Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Omar Associates are likely to make the semi-finals from the other two pools if they chalk up victories against Candyland and Nadra, respectively.

Dollar East, meanwhile, completed a consolation win against Income Tax at the Stags Cricket Ground in Lahore to clinch second place in Group ‘D’.
