LAHORE: Over 200 Pakistani passengers who were stranded in New Delhi yesterday arrived at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport on Tuesday morning.

The Gulf Air flight GF-766 was scheduled to depart from Bahrain for Pakistan on Monday. The flight was, however, diverted to New Delhi because of a technical fault.

The pilot of the flight informed the Delhi airport control room that a technical fault had developed in the aircraft and sought permission to land.

Passengers faced difficulty when they were stranded for 12-14 hours in the plane as Indian authorities did not allow them to disembark.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Adviser on Aviation Shujaat Azeem had also taken notice of the issue.

PM Nawaz had asked Azeem to contact the concerned authorities and arrange a special PIA flight, if needed. He had also asked Pakistan’s High Commission in Delhi to look after the passengers.
