SWABI: The illegal sale of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) continues unabated in the district, posing a grave threat to the life of people.

A visit to the market here on Saturday revealed that the LPG decanting was going on in almost every bazaar and there is no check on the retailers and traders who sell LPG in the busy markets.

The authorities concerned have failed to stop the illegal business of LPG and decanting continued without any fear by the traders in the congested markets. “The decanting cylinders are ticking bombs,” said Rahat Ali, a consumer from Swabi city.

Rohal Amin of Maneri Bala village said that the illegal LPG refilling shops had mushroomed in each market and bazaar of the district. Other people said that decanting was a dangerous business. One of them recalled that two months ago a cylinder blast in a house in Kaddi village left four people with serious burns and their kitchen was also destroyed.
