Will associate teams be part of World Cup 2019?

SYDNEY: The number of teams taking part in the 2019 World Cup in England has not yet been set in stone, the International Cricket Council said on Friday.
The global governing body has come under fire for its plan to cut the number of teams involved in England in four years' time to 10 from 14, taking part in the ongoing tournament in Australia and New Zealand.
But ICC chief executive David Richardson, in a telephone interview on Friday, said: “I've learnt never to say never to anything. I'm sure the format of the next World Cup will be debated after this one has finished."
Ireland defeated a Test playing nation for the third time in successive World Cup when they thrashed the two times World Champion West Indies in a group stage match. Ireland previously defeated England in 2011 World Cup after beating Pakistan in 2007 World Cup.
"I'm pleased with the performances of the qualifiers so far, but the bigger tests are still to come," said Richardson.

Promote the game to the best it can, as this is undoubtedly one of the best sport to watch and play, include all the possible teams even the likes of USA, China, Hongkong etc.
if this game can be reached to china then imagine China VS IND venue in China where there will be more than 100 million dragon blood supporters then team India will come to know the difficulty of playing with minimum supporters, nice scenario to be in (INDIA)
China VS USA in China....

I' m regular reader of Dawn from Nepal. ICC should be more serious towards associate country if they want to save 50 overs oneday format. Nepal has huge cricket following fans these days n our cricket has everythink that is needed to compete in international arena, as we have already beaten afganistan, netherland,namibia,hongkong and nearly beat bangladesh. So its time to ICC to include such team directly in their oneday format. Intangible qualification for associate cricket nation for worldcup will only keep cricket as 2nd best sporting game.

Associates have done a very good job so far but i am afraid, ICC is right to limit world cup to 10 teams. It provides equal chance to all teams when they face each other once in that format. Associates and other emerging sides should be promoted in T20 worldcups.

The tournament / cup is toooooo long drawn.
I know a number of regular watchers and followers of the game, who have lost interest in this cup.
Two and a half months to reach the finals, is ridiculous.
All teams should reach a qualifier status, during their regular ODI games, the top team teams should then square off, based on a knock out basis, short and sweet. No need to make it toooo complicated

If ICC is serious about the development of associates, they should see how many games associates play against test playing nations in the 4 years between World cups. Associates are currently playing mainly Associates and test nations are mainly playing test nations. They only play each other in the World cup. Imagine if the associates played at least 100 ODI games in 4 years against test nations. They would be a lot more successful in the World Cup.

ICC should come up with a standardised format for future world cups. Any idea whats the criteria for giving a country test status? BD were given one after one win against Pakistan in 1999. Why not grant Ireland one as well?

China does not participate in any sports which it cannot win. Examples from Beijing Olympics are plentiful. Keep waiting for China to grab on to Cricket.

Two things must be done immediately : Ireland must be given test status, Zimbabwe or Bang or both should be stripped of it
Second, more and more new nation tours should be organised to test nations.
