KGS, FPS in tennis final

KARACHI: The semi-finals of the NBP Inter-school Team Tennis Cup were held at the Karachi Gymkhana tennis courts on Saturday.

The tournament, being organised by Razia Babar and Nabil Hoodbhoy of Perfect Strokes, witnessed some tough competitions particularly between CAS and Foundation Public School in the under-15 category and Nixor College and Foundation Public School (FPS) in the 16-18 age group.

In the other singles Ahmed of FPS came through a grueling two hour battle to finally overcome Abdullah (CAS) 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. Both youngsters displayed commendable fighting spirit and exemplified a never say die attitude.

In the deciding doubles, Rayaan and Abdullah (CAS) lost to Bilal and Yahya of (FPS) 7-5, 7-5. The hard fought doubles victory catapulted FPS into the final where they will meet KGS.

The finals will be held at Karachi Gymkhana courts on Sunday (today) and will be attended by the Honorable Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui.

Under-15 age group (Semi-finals):

Karachi Grammar School (KGS) bt Bay View Academy 3-0: Mohammad Dada (KGS) bt Tarzan (Bay View Academy ) 6-0, 6-3; Kinza Kaleem (KGS) bt Hania (Bay View Academy) 6-1, 6-0; Bay View Academy forfieted doubles.

Foundation Public School (FPS) bt Center for Advanced Studies 2-1: Raayan (CAS) bt Bilal (FPS) 6-1, 1-6, 6-3; Ahmed (FPS) bt Abdullah (CAS) 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

16-18 age group (Semi-finals)

KGS1 bt KGSII 3-0: Maheen (KGS) bt Nasrullah (KGS)6-2, 6-1; Talha(KGS) bt Hadi (KGS) 6-2, 6-1; KGSII forfeited doubles.

FPS bt Nixor College 2-1: Ibrahim(FPS) bt Saifullah (Nixor College) 6-3, 6-0; Saud (Nixor) bt Saad (FPS) 6-2, 6-2.
